Microsoft Teams to get faster and more relevant search results

Earlier this year, Microsoft announced that its Teams desktop app is getting a new search results experience that should provide more relevant and faster results. Today, the company shared a bit more information about the new capabilities that will be available with this update as well as a timeline for its release.

In a recent update to the Microsoft 365 admin centre, the software giant indicated that this redesigned search results page is expected to launch in November. These improvements aim to help users to find chat messages, shared files, or answers faster & easier than ever before. “This redesigned search results page features better context, faster results, improved filtering capabilities with AI-powered relevance based on the people and content you engage with most in Teams and other Microsoft 365 services,” the Microsoft 365 admin centre message reads.

It is worth noting that the existing search experience lets users click the chat/channel messages in a sidebar and their context in the right pane. This helps to retain the search results and eliminates the need to jump back and forth between windows. It will be interesting to see if Microsoft will be able to come up with a strategy to deal with this scenario.
