IT Support Engineer

About the role

We have an opportunity for an IT Support Engineer to join our team and help us support our growing customer base. Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience in an outsourced IT role, and have experience of supporting a range of technologies including Microsoft, HP, SOPHOS, Cloud and Business Continuity solutions. This role will provide assistance to our helpdesk team, and provide system admin services to our expanding customer base. Confidence supporting multiple customers remotely and at their premises, as required is a must.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide professional top quality remote support for incidents and requests
  • Deal with escalations and high level technical issues
  • Deal with direct calls and take ownership of work from the call
  • Provision and deploy users on multiple platforms (Office 365/Active Directory etc.)
  • Manage Remote Monitoring and Management platform and resolve alerts
  • Perform admin functions on Server and Cloud services
  • Ensure re-useable templated technical solutions are delivered/documented
  • Assist with technical testing of new technology as required
  • Configure/Support network equipment as required (Firewall, Switches etc.)
  • Manage Professional Services Automation and business IT automation tools
  • Maintain & Improve Customer Experience

Candidates must have excellent coordination, communication, & problem-solving skills. Be self-motivated, possess the ability to handle multiple assignments & have a proven track record in customer service.

Candidate requirements

Candidates must possess the following:

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in IT
  • Experienced in outsourced IT or Managed Service Provider
  • Current IT accreditations e.g. Microsoft MCSA, or MCSE or multiple MCP’s
  • Expertise supporting Microsoft Server solutions
  • Experience managing and supporting Office 365 & Exchange
  • Full understanding of DNS, DHCP, AD & GPO
  • Knowledge of common network protocols, including vLan & routing
  • Experience with Firewalling – ideally using SOPHOS Unified Threat Management
  • Experience supporting Remote Desktop Service & Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
  • Experience maintain and amending SharePoint
  • Experience with Azure & other cloud platforms
  • Good knowledge of Virtualisation (VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Excellent knowledge of IT support tools, techniques, & how IT is used to provide business outcomes
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast moving environment

Senior IT Engineer

About the role

Responsibilities include:

  • Design IT solutions to meet customer requirements incl. licencing
  • Ability to work to budgets to deliver solutions
  • Provide pre-sale technical resources & present to clients
  • Deploy/Deliver IT solutions for multiple businesses
  • Provide technology roadmaps for both the business & customers
  • Ensure re-useable templated technical solutions are delivered/documented
  • Provide technical leadership to existing Professional Services
  • Troubleshoot & remediate high level technical issues
  • Manage, schedule & document work using internal service desk tools
  • Maintain & Improve Customer Experience

Skills & Experience

Candidates must possess the following:

  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in IT
  • Must be experienced in outsourced IT or MSP
  • Current IT recognised Professional IT accreditations e.g. Microsoft MCSA, or MCSE
  • Expertise deploying & supporting MS Server & Desktop O/S i.e. Server 2008/2012, Windows 7/8/10
  • Experience designing & supporting Exchange
  • Experience design & deploying & migrating to Office 365
  • Experience with PowerShell & common scripting languages
  • Full understanding of DNS, DHCP, AD & GPO
  • Knowledge of common network protocols, including vLan & routing
  • Ability to design & support Enterprise SAN & HA solutions
  • Experience with Firewalling
  • Exposure to SOPHOS UTM
  • Experience deploying & support RDS & VDI
  • Experience with SharePoint
  • Experience with design & implementation of Azure & other platforms
  • Working knowledge of leading AV & Backup software
  • Good knowledge of Virtualisation (VMware, Hyper-V) including HA & FT
  • Superb Problem Solving
  • Excellent communicator
  • Technical awareness: match resources to technical issues appropriately
  • Commercial awareness
  • Excellent knowledge of IT support tools, techniques, & how IT is used to provide business outcomes.
